Scan with Load File, Copy and Blowback
Even in our rapidly digitized world, sometimes hard copy images are all that is available. AIR Graphics has a full range of equipment and our expert staff will scan your images and return the digital files including a load file for your litigation software such as Summation or Concordance. Options include OCR conversion and Bates numbering. We also specialize in managing oversized originals such as blueprints and plot plans.
Pricing for these services are based on the number of images that can be scanned between an item that will slow down the project. These “roadblocks” determine the per unit cost of the scan and print project. Below is a list of items considered roadblocks to a scanning project. The price categories listed will help you understand and plan on the estimated cost of a given scanning project.
You can reduce any scan and copy project by removing roadblocks. One method is to repace a tab or staple with a blank white sheet. The scanning software will recognize the blank sheet and create a document break.

TIFF BLOWBACK
Easy Definition: Hard Copy from a Digital File
Original Black and White PDF or TIFF documents that can be opened, printed and closed. This would not include files with format issues such as Word and Excel files. Additionally, this would not include file formats that AIR Graphics does not support such as AutoCAD files or Quark documents. Digital files with occasional color documents in a predominantly black & white document can be printed in black & white at the TIFF price quoted. To print the color images in color, a special price will be quoted
AUTORUN (Level 1)
Easy Definition: 100 or more pages between roadblocks
Originals with large, rubber-banded sections or loose documents of auto feed. If only one set of copies is made, originals must be in excellent condition – one-sided, same size paper, with no staples, clips or folder tabs. If three or more copies of a level “2” job are requested, the grade will be adjusted to a level “1” project.
LIGHT LITIGATION (Level 2)
Easy Definition: 25 – 99 pages between roadblocks
Originals with large stapled, clipped, or Depo bound sections. Occasional small sections of stapled or clipped documents may be mixed in, but not to the extent of slowing down the copying process. Also included in this category would be work that is all two-sided, even if it is auto-feed. If three or more copies of a level “3” job are requested, the grade will be adjusted to a level “2” project.
MEDIUM LITIGATION (Level 3)
Easy Definition: 10 – 24 pages between roadblocks
Originals with primarily stapled and clipped sections of letter and legal size, including copying of file folders and folder tabs. These jobs require more handling, as well as more organization. An occasional receipt or small original may be included, but not to the extent of slowing down the copying process. If three or more copies of a level “4” job are requested, the grade will be adjusted to a level “3” project.
HEAVY LITIGATION (Level 4)
Easy Definition: 1 – 9 pages between roadblocks
Originals as described in the level “3” category, but also includes small stapled and clipped sections of 9 or fewer pates, and mixed sizes of originals (such as receipts, envelopes, half-pages, etc.). These additional variables cause this type of work to require more handling and organizing, slowing down the copy process. If three or more copies of a grade “5” job are requested, the grade will be adjusted to a level “4” project.
Originals marked “Copy Tagged Only,” otherwise known as ‘Pick and Choose,” that contain tagged folders, tagged stapled or clipped sections, tagged individual pages, or ‘Copy from this to next,” would be graded as a level “4” job, unless the designated sections qualify as level “5” work.
GLASS WORK (Level 5)
Easy Definition: Glass Glass, Glass!!!
Originals that require 50% to 80% glass work, such as receipts, half-pages, envelopes, onion skin or fax paper, odd-sized originals, and extremely poor quality originals that require extensive handling and analysis on a page-by-page basis.
