Kris Waldman – Waltham Mills Studio

August 23, 2010

I visited with Kris Waldman, photographer, mixed media sculptor and a member of the Waltham Mills Artists’ Association, at her studio a few weeks ago.

We had just completed a project for her and I was interested in seeing the final product displayed. Her display is called:Re_membering Bodies”

Kris and I discussed her display…

“In creating mixed media sculpture from found objects and humble materials, inspired by animal, plant, human and rock forms, I imagine a being that isn’t circumscribed by social convention. Inside and outside merge, gender is unclear, and the boundary between organic and inorganic existence is blurred. As the mass propagates and deteriorates, fuses and divides, the potential for new existence emerges.”

Kris came to AIR Graphics to enlarge her “macro photos” illustrating where she derives motivation for her sculpture exhibited in her studio space. AIR Graphics was able to enlarge her digital images, maintaining quality, resoltuion and color. The final result is a true representation of her images, now at 3 x 4 feet.

AIR Graphics finished the pieces by mounting to half inch black gator foam and finished with a luster laminate to protect the image. We also supplied products for wall mounting. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Kris and she encouraged me to take a few “macro photos” myself.
