Answer: Minoru Yamasaki designed the towers, and he was considered a practitioner of “New Formalism.”

2. Who designed the September 11 Memorial, Reflecting Absence, at the site of the World Trade Center towers? Where did this architect go to architectural school?

Answer: Michael Arad of Handel Architects. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech’s architectural school, and was designing New York City Police stations for the New York Housing Authority when he won the design competition for the memorial in 2004.

3. If you’re a hod carrier, what are you doing and what trade are you supporting?

Answer: Hod carriers, also called “hoddies,” carry bricks and support the bricklayers.
